Strathalbyn Softball under 14's take on the Pirates

Hills Softball Association Under 14 Mixed (Strathalbyn v Pirates)

Pirates were up to bat first and even though Strathalbyn pitcher Ashton Ide pitched quite a few strikes they were able to gain some walks which pushed runners around bringing in six runs with Ide fielding and throwing to first baser Eva Eglitis for the first out, Ide combining with catcher Sam Baker for a K2 and Baker then fielding and throwing to Eglitis for the third out to end the innings. Strath came in to bat and started with hits to Lincoln Strange and Scarlett Finn and with some choosy batting they got Ide, Baker and Xander Ide onto base with walks but even with some great base running they were only able to bring home Strange and A.Ide for two runs.

The second batting dig for Pirates faced new pitcher Byron Strange who pitched well with Pirates getting some safe hits to Elijah Harvey, Elliott Lawson, Jett Donoghue and a home run to Jack Walters which brought in the full seven runs with Strath’s pitcher B. Strange fielding and making the out at first and third baser Finn also fielding and making the second out at first base. Strath came in for their second turn at bat and needed to add some runs to the board but even with walks to Finn and Tayah Thornton and another safe hit to L. Strange they were unable to with Pirates just too good in the field making a tag out at home and two K2’s to pitcher/catcher combo of Charlie Askew to Hugo Owen to end the innings and the game. Pirates came out on top 13 runs to Strathalbyn 2.
