The Town Hall upgrades as part of Stage 8 of the Strathalbyn Town Centre Revitalisation Project are well underway, according to Alexandrina Council.
An investment of $2.095M for this stage is part of the overall $10.5M for all eight stages of the Revitalisation Project and investment in Strathalbyn’s town centre.
The upgrades intend to transform the historic building into a modern, multi-functional facility that will cater to a diverse range of activities and events.
They include an extension of the existing stage, new stage lighting, additional audio/visual and lighting control panels.
There will also be a disability compliant platform lift for stage access, an upgrade of accessible toilets, installation of new air conditioning to the main auditorium, green room, and dressing room.
The front of the hall will be reconfigured to provide box office and social space.
Chief Executive Officer Nigel Morris says: “We are delighted to be working with Brett Julian Architects and Stride Construction for the Strathalbyn Town Hall upgrades, and we are confident that they will deliver a high-quality result.
“These upgrades will not only enhance the Town Hall's historical features but also provide a modern and accessible space for the community to enjoy.
“We look forward to seeing the completion of this project and the benefits it will bring to Strathalbyn.
“The project is on track to be completed by the end of October 2023, with the Town Hall to be temporarily reopened for the popular Strathalbyn Antiques and Collectables Fair and Strathalbyn Bands Festival events in August 2023.”
From November, the hall will be available for bookings through the council.
