Stray bikes could identify car thieves

Car thieves left two bicycles at the scene of the crime at Willunga on the weekend and police are keen to identify the bikes' owners.

Sometime on Saturday night, a Mitsubishi ute was stolen from the driveway of a Willunga address.

The ute was then torched in a parking lot on Grainger Road, Somerton Park just before 1.30am on Sunday 3 September.

The fire was extinguished by MFS crews but the vehicle was completely burnt out.

Two bicycles were found abandoned near the Willunga property; it appears that thieves had arrived at the Willunga property by bike before stealing the ute.

Police are trying to track down the owners of the bikes, which are suspected of being stolen.  Anyone with information is asked to contact police.

Anyone who saw or heard any suspicious activity or has any information, CCTV or dashcam footage that may assist the investigation is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at www.crimestopperssa.com.au
