Need the promise of some fun in the sun to help you defrost?

A number of exciting events and popup experiences are on the cards in the Onkaparinga region this summer. 

The City of Onkaparinga called for expressions of interest from individuals or organisations interested in hosting activities to activate the region’s coastline over the summer period.

From outdoor cinemas, to pizza at the beach, a range of ideas were put forward, and then put out for public consultation. The council offered applicants the opportunity to run their activities over the next two summers. 

Following the consultation period, council will take into account the feedback and decide which proposals should go ahead.

Aldinga Beach

- Fleurieu Sounds: A ticketed open-air summer festival at Thomas Street Reserve including live music, food trucks and a bar. It would run from 4pm-midnight on up to four dates in February.

- Locally Sourc'd: A pop-up local food and wine bar incorporating live music at Thomas Street Reserve. It would operate over four weekends (Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays) across December, January and February. 

- Pizzateca Beach: Pizzateca McLaren Vale wants to host an outdoor eatery and bar, serving wood oven pizza, gelato and local wine and beer. It would operate on the open space, south of Clarrie Eatts Reserve, Aldinga Beach, from 1 November to 27 January, opening seven days.

- Onkaparinga Outdoor Cinema Summer Series (Aldinga Beach): A ticketed pop-up cinema with food and beverage options. It would be held from 6pm-10.30pm on Saturday, 25 January, at Aldinga Bay Surf Lifesaving Club. 

Port Noarlunga

- Cabana Beach Club: A licensed day bed area on the beach with food and beverage service, hosted by Hortas restaurant, every Saturday and Sunday from November 2019 - 1 March between noon and 9pm.

- Onkaparinga Outdoor Cinema Summer Series (Sauerbier House): A ticketed popup outdoor cinema with food and beverage offerings, to be held from 6pm-10.30pm on Saturday, 18 January, at Sauerbier House.

Port Willunga

- Summer at Port Noarlunga: A coastal-inspired outdoor eatery and bar incorporating live music at Towilla Yerta Reserve, Port Willunga (just north of the car park, north of the Star of Greece).

It would open every day between Monday, 23 December, and Sunday, 9 January.

Consultation for the Port Willunga proposal has been extended and will close on Friday, 16 August, (click here to have your say) while the other proposals are now closed for consultation.
