A new summer schedule will see yellow bins and green bins collected weekly over the peak holiday period, encouraging Fleurieu and KI residents to recycle more.

Weekly collection of yellow and green bins (in eligible areas) will begin on 19 December 2022 and finish on 27 January 2023.

Collection of yellow recycling bins and green organics bins will double over the peak summer period to encourage more recycling over the holiday season.

Blue general waste bins, including any exceptional circumstances bins, will continue to be collected fortnightly.

In July, all member councils of the Fleurieu Regional Waste Authority (FRWA) endorsed extra recycling and green collections over the summer period. 

This includes the City of Victor Harbor, Alexandrina Council, District Council of Yankalilla and Kangaroo Island Council.

FRWA expects the extra collection of recycling and organics to see nearly 75 per cent of all waste recycled.
