Department for Infrastructure and Transport (DIT) will start road safety works on Victor Harbor Road from today,ย ๐ ๐ผ๐ป๐ฑ๐ฎ๐ย ๐ฎ๐ฑย ๐ก๐ผ๐๐ฒ๐บ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐ฟ.
As part of the $810 million Fleurieu Connections Projects, the federal and state governments have committed $15 million for safety upgrades on Victor Harbor Road.ย
The Hindmarsh Tiers Road and Virgin Road intersection has been identified for safety improvements due to a high number of right-angle crashes.ย
The proposed treatments include a dedicated right turn lane into Hindmarsh Tiers Road from Victor Harbor Road and a dedicated right turn lane into Virgin Road from Victor Harbor Road.
Work will begin with the establishment of site compound at the intersection of Victor Harbor Road, Hindmarsh Tiers Road, and Virgin Road. This will involve service location, vegetation removal, and preparation for road widening.
Work hours will run from Monday to Saturday, 7am to 6pm; if night works are required, they will take place between 6pm and 6am. Advance notice will be provided before any night work begins.
From mid-December, construction will include road widening, drainage, lighting, and installation of safety features such as guard rails and road signs.
During these works, speed and lane restrictions apply, with a stop and go arrangement in place.ย
