Surf’s up down south

The annual Southern Surf Festival is set for this weekend at Middleton Point, from Friday 1 May to Sunday 3 May.

The festival presents a weekend of all things surfing, featuring state championship events in short board, long board, stand up and kneeboard surfing.

With a wide range of family friendly activities, music, come-and-try and delicious food and beverages this will be a true celebration of surfing in South Australia.

More than 200 competitors will have fun competing in a range of events including an inter club and fun twin-fin and single-fin event.

There will be music, kids’ entertainment, food trucks, local wine, beer and much more, from 8am to 3pm.

Supported by Alexandrina Council, the event attracts visitors from all over the state to the famed south coast surf mecca.

For those wanting to give surfing a go for the first time, a range of surf schools will operate on the Sunday.

All are welcome, with free entry for spectators. More information on the website.
