Police are investigating after a suspicious fire at Port Noarlunga destroyed a boat.

Just after 9pm on Saturday 7 August, Southern District patrols and fire crews were alerted to a boat on fire in a car park off River Road.

When patrols arrived they found a boat on a trailer engulfed in flames.  Fire crews quickly extinguished the blaze but the boat was completely destroyed.

Investigations revealed the boat had been stolen from the driveway of a Christies Beach home earlier in the evening.

Crime Scene Investigators attended the scene and will examine the boat and determine the cause of the fire.
