Police are investigating a car fire at McLaren Vale which caused a grassfire.

Just after 11pm, Thursday 29 January, a black Mercedes sedan parked on Chalk Hill Road, Mclaren Vale when it was set alight. The fire spread to nearby grassland.

CFS crews quickly extinguished the blaze which caused extensive damage to the vehicle.

Police established the car had been stolen from a Seaford Rise address earlier that evening.

Crime Scene Investigation will be attending this morning to examine the scene.
