Strathalbyn SES Unit will host an open day on Sunday 11 August at its site on Milnes Road.

It will offer an opportunity to meet local volunteers and find out how to help the community, meet new people and learn new skills by volunteering with the South Australian State Emergency Service.

The ‘orange army’ supports the region throughout the year during extreme weather events such as storms, floods and heatwaves and also helps out with road crash, marine, swiftwater, vertical and confined space rescues.

SES volunteers respond to around 10,000 calls for assistance each year from across the state.

Anyone in and around Strathalbyn who is interested in the work of the SES is welcome to drop in between 10am and 12noon and enjoy the sausage sizzle.
