The City of Onkaparinga has launched a trial of a new sustainability rebate to encourage residents to send less to landfill.
The rebate will support residents to make the switch to reusable cloth nappies, reusable sanitary items and food scrap caddies.
They can also purchase a bin latch, available from Customer Service offices.
The rebates are for 50 per cent, up to a maximum of $100 for nappies and sanitary items and $10 for caddies.
Each household in the City of Onkaparinga is eligible for one rebate per category and three bin latches at the subsidised rate of 50 per cent of the recommended retail price.
Full details of the rebates and how to apply can be found on the council website.
