Mount Compass Area School will host a fundraiser at Victa Cinema on Saturday, 1 July at 6.30pm, screening the movie Sweet As. 

Lead actor Shante Barnes-Cowan will be a special guest on the evening for a Q&A session. 

Funds raised will go to Mount Compass Area School students to create a mural to promote a stronger recognition of the traditional owners of the land.

The debut feature film from Indigenous writer/ director Jub Clerc was inspired by her own journey of becoming a filmmaker.

It stars Tasma Walton, Mark Coles Smith and Shantae Barnes-Cowan in an effervescent story of growth, acceptance and the journey towards finding oneself. 

There will be non-alcoholic drinks and other treats available for purchase on the evening and a raffle and wine wall  will form part of the fundraising efforts.

The ticket price of $30 includes some light refreshments. Book via Humantix.
