There is no need to cut anyone’s grass to have a great day out and contribute to a good cause.
The Cut It Cape Jervis Lawn Mower Race will be held on 14 March, opposite the Cape Jervis Tavern, on Ransford Street.
The mowers will be out on track from 11am for free practice, with racing from 12noon. There will be heats throughout the day, a hot lap shootout, and presentations around 5pm.
The Cape Jervis Tavern has organised food and drink and there will be a local market onsite for a great family day out.
Racing classes range from Standard (a standard mower with its deck removed), all the way up to the Super Modified Class A mowers, which are fitted with motorbike engines up to 450cc.
Entry is via a gold coin donation, with money raised going to the Kangaroo Island Mayoral Relief and Recovery Bushfire Fund.
The South Australian Lawn Mower Racing Association (SALMRA) will run a lucky square draw for two single fishing charter tickets, donated by Cape Fishing Charters.
Each lucky square costs $5 and there are 100 squares per charter ticket. All the funds raised will also be donated to the Kangaroo Island Mayoral Relief and Recovery Bushfire Fund.
Anyone interested in competing on the day must pre-register. Get in touch via the SALMRA Facebook page or by sending an email.
For more information the rules of racing go to the SALMRA website.
