Magpie Springs Gallery and Winery provided an idyllic setting for a lesson in business finance when the Women in Business Regional Network held its latest McLaren Vale chapter lunch.
The guest speaker was Yorke Peninsula member Deb Purvis, of Robinson Sewell Purvis, who provided tips on how to get finance for businesses.
She outlined a range of different scenarios when businesses might require finance including for expansion, to get through tough times or to purchase a business.
Deb’s main focus has been with large agricultural enterprises, including some in the McLaren Vale area, but she also organises finance for small and medium businesses.
She draws on decades in regional South Australia and experience as a Rural Financial Counsellor.
The lunch was hosted by Avril Thomas, part-owner of Magpie Springs Gallery and Winery.
It was a gorgeous, but different, setting for a network function, under the new veranda, overlooking the grapevines and the only background noise was the birds in the trees.
Those in attendance enjoyed viewing Avril’s magnificent artworks, including pieces hung in the Archibald Prize exhibition, and several went home with wine and coffee produced by Magpie Springs.
The next McLaren Vale/Southern Suburbs event will be a dinner at the Meeting Place in McLaren Vale on Monday 10 May, when Sharon McGann will speak about packaging your expertise and passion as an educational session. The next lunch is scheduled for Wednesday, May 26.
The Women in Business Regional Network is open to business owners, managers, staff and those dreaming of owning their own business. You don’t have to be a member to attend events, but bookings are essential via Eventbrite.
