Tax help volunteers available

Help to complete tax returns is once again available through the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) at some state and federal electorate offices.

Tax Help volunteers are available in person at state MP for Finniss David Basham’s office in Victor Harbor by appointment on Mondays from now until October 30.

For more information and to make an appointment, call the office on 8552 2152.

The ATO’s community-based Tax Help program is a free and confidential service open to people earning about $60,000 or less each year.

ATO-trained volunteers can help lodge returns claim a refund of franking credits, submit a non-lodgement advice or lodge an amendment.

Mr Basham says he is excited to be able to deliver this service again.

“I hope that it can be helpful to eligible tax payers and widely utilised.

“There are multiple venues across the region and our office can help you find the closest.”

The service is also available at federal MP for Mayo Rebekha Sharkie’s Mount Barker Office; to make an appointment call 8398 5566.

Tax Help volunteers are also available at other tax centres across Australia, online and by phone, so help is also available to those who live in a rural or remote location.

For more information about the Tax Help program, visit the ATO website.
