Taxi driver robbed in southern suburbs

Police are investigating after a taxi driver was assaulted and robbed early this morning in Morphett Vale.

About 6:15am on Wednesday 1 December, a taxi driver pulled up on Elizabeth Road at Morphett Vale to collect passengers.  Whilst he was parked outside a home he was assaulted by a group of six people who stole cash and personal items from inside the taxi.

The victim, a 36-year-old man from Sheidow Park, was allegedly struck to the head a number of times by members of the group.  He was taken by ambulance officers to hospital where he was treated for minor injuries.

Police attended and searched the area and located two suspects in a Wheatsheaf Road home.  A 16-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl both from Noarlunga Downs were arrested and charged with aggravated robbery.  They were both bailed to appear in the Christies Beach Youth Court on 20 January.

Anyone with information that may be able to assist with the investigation is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at www.crimestopperssa.com.au – you can remain anonymous.
