Technology glitch sends rates payments old school

A technology problem is stopping Alexandrina ratepayers from making their payments online.

The fist quarter rates payments for 2022/2023 financial year are due in the first week in September.

The council has apologised for the inconvenience and says it is working to get its website rates payment system back online as soon as possible.

In the meantime alternative payment methods include:

  • BPay payment by phone or internet via an online bank account.
  • In person at council offices Goolwa and Strathalbyn.
  • In person at Australia Post.
  • By phone, 8555 7000 for credit card payments over the phone.

The council says it will not apply late payment fees to Alexandrina Council rates until the online payment method has been restored and people have had a chance to make the payment.

It will provide updates as to progress repairing the rates payment technology on its website.
