South Australia’s borders are open with double vaccinated travellers from New South Wales and Victoria now able to enter the state. SA Health reported last night that 77.4% of South Australian's aged 16 and over have received two doses of a COVID-19 vaccination and 87.2% have received their first vaccination.

A new Test, Trace, Isolate and Quarantine (TTIQ) system is now also in place.

Under the TTIQ model anyone identified as a ‘low-risk casual contact’, ‘casual contact’ or ‘close contact’ of someone who is COVID-19 positive will be contacted by SA Health and advised of their testing and quarantine requirements.

Fully vaccinated casual contacts will only have to quarantine until they receive a negative test result.

When judging whether someone is a close or casual contact SA Health will consider the amount of time they were exposed, how close they were to the case, whether they and the case were wearing a mask and the setting and location of the exposure.

If a double vaccinated person is determined to be a close contact they will only have to quarantine for seven days. Unvaccinated people will have to quarantine for 14 days.

Local pharmacies and other Fleurieu businesses are implementing a ‘teams’ system of employees with two or more teams of employees kept separate from each other so the business is protected from the risk of their entire staff having to quarantine.

SA Health has defined a low-risk casual contact as someone who was wearing a mask, social distancing, was exposed either in an outdoor location or a large indoor facility such as a large supermarket or warehouse.

A casual contact is someone who has non-physical contact with a case for a short time, for example shopping in a mid-sized supermarket at the same time as a COVID-19 positive person for 15 minutes or less.

A close contact is someone a person has at least 15 minutes face-to-face contact with an infected person or who has had physical contact such as hugging or shaking hands.

SA Health says under the new TTIQ model fewer people will be required to quarantine or will need to quarantine for a shorter time.
