The 2021 Port Elliot Show has been cancelled

The Southern Agricultural Show Society has just announced that the 2021 Port Elliot show has been cancelled.

The Management Committee has acknowledged the generosity of the businesses that sponsored their show books, which had already begun to be distributed.

The show was planned for October 9 and 10 but will not ahead due to the COVID-19 pandemic

The remaining Fleurieu and Kangaroo Island shows are still going ahead at this stage:

Yankalilla Show - Saturday October 2.

Strathalbyn Show – Monday October 4 (public holiday)

Kangaroo Island – Saturday October 30

Callington Show – Sunday October 31

Parndana Show – Saturday November 13

Elsewhere in the state, the Whyalla and Kadina shows successfully went ahead last weekend.

The Crystal Brook, Balaklava and Burra and Port Lincoln shows have also been cancelled and the Gawler show has been postponed until November.

Most country shows were cancelled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Port Elliot Show has run for 182 years and has only previously been cancelled due to the 1852 Victorian gold rush, WW1, the 1919 Spanish Flu pandemic and WWII.
