The Fleurieu Aquatic Centre and a Strath Hotel closed due to COVID-19 exposure

A South Coast swimming and fitness centre and a Strathalbyn Hotel are closed due to COVID-19 exposures.

The Fleurieu Aquatic Centre is advising patrons that a COVID-19 positive contact was on site between 10am – 5pm on Monday 20 December and 10am-11:30am on Tuesday 21 December.

Centre Management have notified SA Health and says they are waiting their advice.

The facility is not yet listed as a COVID-19 exposure site.

The Centre will be closed from 1pm today to enable staff to get tested. Management says due to delays in receiving test results the Centre will remain closed until Sunday 26 December.

The Commercial Hotel in Strathalbyn will be closed until Wednesday December 29 after management was informed that the popular venue is a potential COVID-19 exposure site.

The potential exposure occurred on Monday December 20 between 12pm and 9pm, according to a Facebook post made by the hotel today.

The hotel has since been cleaned and although permitted to open, management has decided to close the hotel so workers can be tested and isolate, where necessary.

The Facebook post said, “Our front of house staff are all fully vaccinated, wear a mask at all times, and will continue to follow all guidelines set by SA Health.”

“The safety of our team and our wonderful customers is our utmost priority and we thank everyone for wearing masks and checking in upon entry.”

We are in the process of contacting all bookings - sorry to anyone unable to get through by phone, the hotel is currently unattended.”

The bottleshop will remain open daily from 10am-9pm and Christmas Day from 9am-11am.”

Sorry, takeaway meals will not be available during this time.”

“Please be safe x.”

The decision mirrors that of other South Australian hospitality venues exposed to COVID-19.

The management of the Inglewood Inn in the Adelaide Hills also decided to close until after Christmas after most of their staff were directed to isolate after a person with COVID-19 attended a wedding at the venue.

Their manager told ABC Radio Adelaide this morning that they are unable to adequately staff the hotel and that most of their staff are now facing a Christmas in quarantine.

The city-based Seven Stars Hotel also announced this morning that they would be closing until after Christmas.

As of 12.30pm today the Commercial Hotel had not yet been added to the SA Health exposure site webpage.
