The Winter Warmer Fundraiser is back on.

The event was originally planned for July but was delayed due to the lockdown.

With COVID restrictions eased, a new date has now been set and the fundraiser will go ahead at 6pm on August 27 at the Victor Harbor Football Club rooms.

Tickets are $35 per head, plus a donation of a pantry item from the list below which can be dropped off at The Boulevard Café, South Coast Realty or Bendigo Bank.

Attendees will enjoy a three-course meal, live music, raffles and an auction. The event will be hosted by Ian Wright from Happy FM and Peter Hooper from South Coast Realty will be the auctioneer.

The event is being organised by Lisa Jamieson of the Boulevard Café in Encounter Bay and will raise much needed money and support for the homeless in the local community.

Homelessness on the Fleurieu has almost doubled in the last 12 months and there is an extreme shortage of rental properties available. 

The Fleurieu App has spoken to many locals unable to find accommodation over the past 12 months and several local motel and caravan park owners who have found themselves providing emergency accommodation.

At the time of writing this article there were only a handful of properties listed for rent across the South Coast.    The cheapest was a one-bedroom house in Middleton which was listed at $265 per week.

One hundred percent of the funds raised by the event will go to homeless people on the Fleurieu.

The organisers are asking the business community to support the event by providing products and services that can be auctioned on the night.
