SA Health is urging any South Australians with COVID-19 symptoms to get tested as soon as possible, following an outbreak in Salisbury.
Three new cases of COVID-19 have been detected in the northern Adelaide suburb.
A woman in her 50s, a man in his 60s and a woman in her 80s have tested positive since last night. All are from the same family and one is a worker at a medi-hotel. SA Health is investigating whether this is the source of the outbreak.
The 80-year-old woman attended the Lyell McEwin Hospital's emergency department at 5.30pm on Friday 13 November. She was given a COVID-19 test in the early hours of Saturday morning but was discharged at 4am, before the result was known. She is now back in hospital in a stable condition. The other two people are now quarantining in a medi-hotel.
Anyone who was in the LMH emergency department between 5.30pm Friday 13 November and 4am Saturday 14 November who has not been contacted by SA Health should self-quarantine immediately and contact the SA COVID-19 Information Line on 1800 253 787.
In addition, anyone who was at Parafield Plaza Supermarket on Thursday 12 November between 10:30am – 11:30am should monitor for symptoms and get tested as soon as any appear.
The department considers the date of onset of symptoms in the 80-year old woman to be the 12th of November. People can be contagious for up to two days prior to the onset of symptoms
People experiencing any of the following symptoms should be tested for COVID-19:
Fever or chills (in the absence of an alternative illness that explains these symptoms).
An acute respiratory infection e.g. symptoms of cough, sore throat, runny nose, or shortness of breath.
Loss of smell or alteration in the sense of taste.
Contract tracing is underway. Updates will be provided via the SA Health Facebook page.
Visit www.sahealth.sa.gov.au/COVIDtesting to find a testing location.
Local testing facilities include a drive through testing facility at the Aldinga GP Plus Health Care Centre which operates from 8.30am to 4.00pm each day of the week.
COVID-19 testing is also available at the Southern Fleurieu Health Service on Bay Road in Victor Harbor (adjacent to the South Coast Hospital). The clinic is open from 9am to 5pm Monday to Saturday (closed between 12 – 1pm for lunch) and Sundays from 10am to 2pm.
The Mount Barker District Soldiers Memorial Hospital also has a COVID-19 testing clinic operating with the same hours.
