Langhorne Creek Memorial Park has secured funding of $400,000 from the Department of Primary Industries and Regions Thriving Regions Fund.
Part of the Enabling Infrastructure Program, the annual $15 million fund offers grants from $50,000 up to $1 million for infrastructure projects that strengthen and build strong regional communities.
The grants support projects that can start within six months and be completed within two years of receiving funding.
This grant will enable the Langhorne Creek Memorial Park committee to initiate upgrades to the Langhorne Creek Memorial Park Community Complex, including improved accessibility and amenities.
Langhorne Creek Memorial Park Inc. is a community owned sports facility, governed by the Parks Committee, Incorporating the football, bowls, cricket, netball and tennis clubs.
It will hold its annual general meeting on 18 August at the bowling club and hopes to welcome some new committee members, with its treasurer of 40 years – Sue Phillips – stepping down.
Alexandrina Council has welcomed the funding and the prospective upgrades, saying they will improve inclusivity and create a more family-friendly environment.
