Tigers claw their way to second win of the season in Great Southern Women's football

Yankalilla won their second game of the season with a come-from-behind six-point win against Strathalbyn during round 11 action in the FPAG ‘A’ Grade Women’s competition in the Great Southern Football League yesterday. Strathalbyn led by eight points at halftime, before Yankalilla kicked two goals to zero in the second half to win 4.5 (29) to 3.5 (23). Indi Miller was the only multiple goalkicker on the field with two goals for ‘Strath’. Best players for a jubilant Yankalilla outfit were Tasiah Wright, Nari Wright, Kimberley Rowe, Teagan Stewart, Jemma Ellis and Lisa Henley. Strathalbyn were best served by Eliza Ferguson, Miller, Tijana Jokic, Georgie Pater, Emma Chapman and Megan Rich.


Goolwa/Port Elliot had a thrilling three-point win against Mount Compass at Victor Harbor to move a game clear of McLaren in second spot on the ladder. The Magpies held a handy 15-point lead at the last change, but Mount Compass wouldn’t lie down as they kicked two goals to zero in the final term. However it was too late, with the Magpies holding on to win 3.5 (23) to 3.2 (20). Best players for the Magpies were Kaya Angus, Renee Moon, Rachel Searle, Megan Hoad and Kate Moore. Mount Compass’ best players were Brooke Boileau, Kiahni Russell, Georgina Thomas, Amy Vitkunas and Tyler Rigney-Garrett. 


Willunga continued their undefeated season with a comfortable 94-point win over Victor Harbor. The Demons led by 33 points at quarter time, 58 points at halftime and 67 points at the last change before winning 14.10 (94) to 0.0 (0). Shae Archbold was a standout up forward for Willunga with six goals, while Courtney Gum kicked three. Best players for Willunga included Caitlin Radbone, Katrice Turner, Cleo Guilfoyle, Archbold and Tessa Kohn. Victor Harbor’s best included Courtney Barry, Stacie Findlow and Jasmine Bailey.


McLaren had the bye.
