Registrations of interest are now open for families to apply for their year 6 or 7 child to start high school in 2022, including for the new schools in Aldinga and Goolwa.

In a first for South Australia, all public secondary schools will take enrolments for year 7s for 2022. 

This will see approximately 30,000 students apply to start year 7 and 8 through this year’s statewide transition process.

“Starting secondary school is an exciting experience for young people and their families alike,” Minister for Education John Gardner says.

“This year is particularly exciting, as we are preparing for year 6 and 7 students to move to secondary school together at the end of this year.

“Secondary school offers a wide range of learning opportunities to meet the interests and talents of young people, and it’s fantastic that year 7s will now be able to experience these opportunities earlier in their education.

“I encourage parents to get in touch with their local secondary school to learn about what the school can offer their child.”

All year 6 and 7 public school families will receive a unique link by email or letter to access their child’s online registration of interest form. 

On this form parents will be able to nominate the public secondary school/s they would like their child to attend for 2022. Paper forms are also available.

Families currently attending a non-government school can also apply to attend a public secondary school in 2022. 

They can get further information and a registration form from their local secondary school, education office or through the Education Department website.  

Information videos are available to help families complete their child’s online registration form.

Registrations will close Friday 21 May. Families will receive an enrolment offer from their allocated secondary school by Friday 13 August.
