Two new tourism infrastructure funding grants have been announced by Finniss MP and Minister for Primary Industries and Regional Development David Basham in his south coast electorate.
He visited Softfoot Farm in Hindmarsh Valley and Home of Plenty vineyard in Currency Creek last week to congratulate them on the Tourism Industry Development Fund (TIDF) grants.
“Softfoot Farm have already completed their construction of additional accommodation units to complement existing restaurant and farm experiences which is a development that will encourage extended stays in the local region,” Minister Basham says.
“The Home of Plenty’s new cellar door will be established from an old woodshed near Currency Creek and contribute to more reasons for visitors to see Finniss as a destination.”
“I was inspired to speak to the owners and hear their optimistic plans for diversifying and providing great opportunities for visitors”
“In any development, the community benefits while local trades and products are used for construction and existing employees can be proud of what they are a part of.”
Softfoot Farm has been granted $189,244 towards its $630,814 project to construct three tourist accommodation units.
It has recently resumed its farm tours but its Swagman’s Chargrill restaurant remains closed due to COVID restrictions.
Home of Plenty has been granted $126,778 towards its $422,596 project to develop its new cellar door.
South Australian Premier and Tourism Minister Steven Marshall says the TIDF spurs investment in the state’s regional tourism industry.
“It supports operators to attract more visitors at a higher return, while creating more jobs for South Australians in the process.”
TIDF Grant allocations are between $20 000 and $500 000 and can be used for new, expansion or renovation of accommodation, furniture or fittings, transportation, infrastructure to engage visitors or develop new offerings.
