A Back Valley landowner is applying for approval to establish a caravan / tourist park on Inman Valley Road.
Documents with Plan SA outline the plan to use a portion of the site at 493 Inman Valley Road as a short term park for recreational vehicles.
The 32.4-hectare site runs between Inman Valley and Back Valley Roads.
The application says the land would be used for short term accommodation (of up to five days) for up to 60 recreational vehicles at a time.
It would also provide storage for up to 20 vehicles.
The only facilities that would be provided at the site would be a small shelter and no connection to public utility services would be required.
The site would function under the principle of “what is brought onto the site, leaves the site” and would provide temporary “no frills” sites for self-contained recreational vehicles.
The application says the site would be screened from view by existing vegetation and, “provide a facility not readily available in or about Victor Harbor and/or the region in general.”
It says the proposed park, “will offer visitors to the region a more casual and affordable alternative to the existing caravan parks.”
Local residents and other interested parties have until Monday 15 November to make a representation regarding the application via the Plan SA website.
