Police are investigating after a train and a car collided at Lonsdale early this morning.
About 12.45am on Friday 6 September, police and emergency services were called to Christie Road at Lonsdale after a train collided with a car.
Police will allege the driver of a black Nissan Patrol entered the train track from Christie Road and drove about 100m south before attempted to reverse however the car became stuck on the track.
A short time later a train travelling south collided into the read of the Nissan causing extensive damage. There were a number of people on the train however no injuries were reported.
The driver, a 30-year-old man from Morphett Vale, and his passenger were not in the car at the time and were uninjured.
About 5am, the car was removed from the tracks.
