Trick or treat on your street

The City of Onkaparinga is looking for neighbourhoods that would like to host a family-friendly Halloween celebration in their street.

The council says creating a neighbourhood ‘spooky street’ for the 31 October celebration could be a great way to connect with others close to home.

Trick or Treat street is an initiative of the 1000 Play Streets project, devised as a way for Australians to reclaim their streets as places for people of all ages to connect and play.

More information on holding a street gathering is available on the council’s website.

The council will help with planning, permits, public liability cover and  activities for the children.

Groups of neighbours who are interested in taking part need to let the council know by 23 July, so there is plenty of time to choose suitable streets and arrange road closures.
