Triumphant Mudlarks women celebrate their maiden victory in the GSFL

Myponga-Sellicks are celebrating their first win in the Great Southern Football League (GSFL) FPAG ‘A’ Grade Women’s competition after defeating Goolwa/Port Elliot by seven points on Sunday at Goolwa. The Mudlarks led by 10 points at the last change, before holding on to win 3.6 (24) to 2.5 (17). Courtney Gum, Charlotte Collins and Tasiah Wright were the goalkickers for Myponga-Sellicks. Rachel Wood and Rosie Shaw kicked the Magpies’ goals. Grace Deacon, Carla Humphrys, Tara Ludlow, Collins and Sophie Magor were named as best players for the Mudlarks. Best for the Magpies included Renee Moon, Megan Hoad, Annabelle Mooney, Kerrie-Ann Moon and Indiana Quaremba.


Willunga stayed top of the ladder with a tough 16-point win against McLaren Districts last Friday night. The Demons led at every change before winning 6.8 (44) to 4.4 (28). Abby Woodward kicked two goals in a best-on-ground display for Willunga, while Sally Fuller also kicked two goals for McLaren Districts. Other good players for the Demons included Kirstin Remfrey, Jodie Hunt, Tessa Kohn and Kiara Upitis. Best players for the Eagles were Caitlin Ross, Emily Rowe, Ally Bailey, Layla Rogers and Kelli Nijhuis.


Yankalilla/Encounter Bay consolidated their spot in the top-four after a comfortable 40-point win against Victor Harbor at Goolwa on Sunday. The Stingrays got off to a fast start to lead by 22 points at quarter time and were never headed as they won 5.11 (41) to 0.1 (1). Jaimi Griffen continued her excellent recent form for the Stingrays with another best-on-ground display, and she was well supported by Kate Sanders, Tegan Cross, Georgia Weatherspoon and Kimberley Rowe. Elena Earl hit the scoreboard with two goals for the victors. Best players for the ‘Roos were Aloura Kirk, Alison Grivell, Courtney Marks, Jemma Liddell and Halle Crowe.
