Surfing SA will hold a para surfing come and try day at Goolwa Beach on Saturday 28 January.
It will provide the opportunity for people with a disability see what is possible in para surfing and give it a try in a supportive environment to see if it’s for them.
There will be multiple sessions between 9.30 and 1pm, across nine classifications, with help available in a safe environment.
Paralympian surfer Jocelyn told ABC Radio there are a lot of barriers for people with a disability and days like this help to break them down.
“When I’m in the water I have the same ability as anyone else.”
An invitational heat will be held at 1pm, when some experienced para surfers will go head to head to show what is possible in the water.
Surfing SA has called for volunteers to assist in the water and on land - so there is an opportunity for everyone to get involved.
Anyone wanting to give para surfing a try can sign up online. Potential volunteers can also sign up online.
