Many people have been to the Fleurieu Peninsula, but haven't really 'seen' it, according to Fleurieu Peninsula Tourism.


They have come up with 20 must-see Fleurieu destinations to add to your bucket list.

 

With hidden gems and magical experiences around every corner, there are so many reasons to pack your bags and come and explore! 


Or take a day trip to explore your own backyard.


Check out this list of 20 must-see destinations and start planning your adventure.

 

1. Dive a cave

Dive the eerie caves at Second Valley (if you’re brave enough!).


2. Enjoy the rush

Just after rain, watch the rushing water and take a moment to reflect at Ingalalla Falls or Hindmarsh Falls.


3. Go to a spiritual place

Connect with nature on a tour of the Coorong and Murray Mouth with Canoe the Coorong.


4. Explore the deep

Crack out your snorkeling gear and explore the amazing Port Noarlunga or Aldinga Reefs.


5. Discover a secret

Find the ‘secret’ Blowhole Beach at Deep Creek Conservation Park.


6. Encounter a giant

Marvel at the Southern Right Whales along the southern coastline of the Fleurieu Peninsula during winter. (Or visit the SA Whale Centre any time of year). https://www.sawhalecentre.com.au


7. Journey through a natural wonder

See Australia’s largest collection of native eucalypts at the Currency Creek Eucalyptus Arboretum.


8. Lose yourself

Wander the surrounds of the Myponga Reservoir and try to imagine the various buildings of the former Lovely Valley buried deep under the water.


9. Spot a legend

Brave the cold waters and go diving at Rapid Bay or further out to ex HMAS Hobart to seek out the elusive, some would say legendary, Leafy Sea Dragon.


10. Hunt for a star

Search for sea creatures in the rock pools at Moana, Carrickalinga, Second Valley or the Aldinga reef.


11. Take a stand

Take in the majestic coastline of Port Willunga with a SUP Down South tour.


12. Dine below the surface

Meander down the pretty streets and be inspired by old building techniques on the Willunga Slate Trail.

Be amazed at the natural Sandstone arch formation at Sellicks Beach.


19. Ride a horse on the beach

Take going to the beach to a whole new level with High Country Trails at Normanville.

Walk, cycle or ride your horse on a section of the famous Kidman Trail, from Willunga to Echunga.
