Two men have been found safe on North Page Island after a search near Kangaroo Island.
About 2.30pm yesterday (Thursday 3 December) the two men set off from Cape Jervis headed towards Cape Willoughby to go fishing.
They were expected to return around 6.30pm last night but did not return.
Police were notified about 11.50pm and a search was commenced, using the police helicopter and a Challenger search and rescue plane from Victoria, provided by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA).
The plane's crew located the two men on North Page Island just before 8.30am today (Friday 4 December). The men's upturned vessel was located in waters nearby, and SAPOL's Water Operations Unit will coordinate the recovery of the boat.
The two Cape Jervis men, aged 48 and 47 were taken to the Victor Harbor Hospital for a check-up, but were not injured.
SAPOL Water Operations Unit wish to remind all boat owners to keep their marine safety equipment within easy access and in good working order, along with personal flotation devices (life jackets).
