Major Crash are investigating a fatal crash on Kangaroo Island this afternoon.

At 2.10pm on Monday 8 November emergency services were called to Birchmore Road at MacGillivray, after a Daihatsu sedan that had been travelling south left the road and crashed into a tree.

The passenger, a 23-year-old Findon man was taken to the local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Sadly the driver, a 21-year-old Findon woman died at the scene.

Birchmore Road remains closed to all traffic between East West One Highway and Rowland Hill Highway, motorists are asked to please avoid the area.

The woman's death will be the 84th Life Lost on SA roads this year, compared to 74 at the same time last year.
