Police are investigating a rail crash at McCracken this afternoon.

About 3.20pm Thursday 4 January emergency services were called to Hayward Street, just north of Victor Harbor, after a pedestrian was struck by a passenger train.

Sadly, an elderly man died at the scene.

The driver of the train is assisting police with their enquiries. Passengers were transported from the scene by busses.
