Update: Man arrested after house fire at Goolwa South

A man has been arrested following a house fire at Goolwa South last night. Just after 9.30pm on Tuesday 26 November, police and emergency services were called to Bristow Smith Avenue after reports of a house on fire.


On arrival the house was fully engulfed in flames and fire crews were battling the blaze. The occupants of the house had all evacuated prior to arrival of emergency services and thankfully no one was injured.


A 19-year-old man from New South Wales has been arrested in relation to the fire. He was taken to the Christies Beach Police Station where he was charged with arson. He has been refused bail and will appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court today.


Detectives from the Hills Fleurieu local service area are currently investigating the circumstances of the fire and fire cause investigators will attend the scene this morning to carry out an examination.

Nine CFS firefighting crews saved neighbouring properties by containing the fully involved house fire on Fairway Court in Goolwa South yesterday, Tuesday 26 November.


Firefighters remained on scene working to extinguish the blaze and ensuring the area is safe into the early hours of this morning. The two-storey house was completely engulfed by the fire with the estimated damage value more than $800,000.


SA Police and SA Ambulance also attended the scene.
