Police have arrested a man following a crash at Aldinga Beach.
About 7.15am on Saturday 15 May, emergency services were called to Main South Road after a stolen Toyota sedan with unassigned plates crashed into a power line, and rolled before bringing the lines down. Witnesses reported seeing a man running away.
Southern patrols, along with police dog PD Jax and PolAir searched the area but did not locate the man at the time. Patrols located a rifle and ammunition buried on a nearby property and believe it is linked to this incident.
Just after 12pm, police were called to Pages Flat Road at Sellicks Hill, after a member of the public spotted the man. Police were quickly on scene arresting the man without incident. He was taken to hospital for a medical assessment.
Main South Road was closed for several hours while SAPN repaired the powerline and police cleared the scene, but it has now been reopened. Crime Scene officers attended and examined the car and the firearm.
The 27-year-old of no fixed address was charged with illegal use of a motor vehicle, drive unlicenced, display unassigned plates and firearms offences. He was refused bail to front the Christies Beach Magistrates Court on Monday.
