Myponga Reservoir Reserve will get a facelift and a haircut over the next few weeks, which will temporarily affect access to the area.
SA Water will initiate several upgrades along Eatts Street, starting from Monday 11 March.
They will include sealing the access road from Eatts Street to the car park, creating a new vehicle track for kayak drop-off and installing new barbecue and shelter facilities at the kayak launch area.
District Council of Yankalilla advises the project is expected to last approximately six weeks, subject to weather conditions
Forestry SA will start harvesting part of the pine plantation in the reserve from Monday 25 March.
It involves removing around 15 hectares of mature pines in the north-eastern corner of the reserve, which will take approximately eight weeks.
Forestry SA says the harvested pines will not be replanted and the site will be returned to SA Water management.
“Plans are underway to enhance biodiversity in the area by exploring opportunities for planting native vegetation.”
