Uraidla won their first game of the season after defeating Meadows by 118 runs during round 10 action in the Hills Cricket Association (HCA) at Uraidla yesterday. The Uraidla win was inspired by an excellent century from young opening batsman Felix Gadomski-Mott who smashed 178 from just 121 balls, with his innings including 12 x 4’s and 11 x 6’s. He was well supported by Mitch Makings (59) in a 200-run second wicket stand as Uraidla posted 4/296 from their 45 overs. Veteran Rohan Reid was the pick of the Meadows bowlers with 2/36 (8). Meadows battled hard in the run chase with Callan Blackwell (46), Oscar Tydeman (36) and Zack Robertson (25) the leading run scorers as the Bulldogs were bowled out for 178 in the 34th over. All five Uraidla bowlers took wickets with Simon Parker (3/29), Tom Bassett (2/16), Will Isaksson (2/28) and Trent Richardson (2/49) the multiple wicket takers.
Aldgate won their second game in a row to move up to third spot on the ladder after a three-wicket win over Kangarilla at Yaroona Oval. ‘Kangies’ batted first and it was tough going as they reached 7/142 from their 45 overs. Jono Makai (41), Lenny Berkefeld (28 not out) and Jake Turnbull (28) were the leading run scorers for Kangarilla, while Luke Smet (2/17) and Matt Hansen (2/26) were the pick of the Aldgate bowlers. Aldgate were in trouble at 6/87 in the run chase as skipper Josh Callaghan was joined by Smet. This pair added a crucial 36 runs for the seventh wicket before Callaghan was dismissed for 49 (92 balls). There were still 20 runs required for victory as Smet (25 not out) and Angus Bilsborow (11 not out) knocked off the runs in the 37th over. Ryan Grimmond was the best of the Kangarilla bowlers with 3/21 from his nine overs.
Stirling moved six points clear on top of the HCA ladder after a comfortable six-wicket win over Scott Creek Ironbank (SCIB). Scott Creek Ironbank won the toss and chose to bat first and they got themselves into a good position through Aaron Thompson (47) and Lachlan Knight (32) at 1/92 in the 23rd over. From then on it was all Stirling as they took the last 9/64 to bowl SCIB out for 156. Jack Read (3/2), Zeke Hemming (2/23) and Charlie Fryer (2/23) were the chief destroyers for the Eagles. Stirling attacked from the start of the run chase with Read (24) and Harrison Webb (41) putting on 58 for the first wicket, before Mitch Jude (44 not out) and Kurt Zytnik (16 not out) saw their side over the line in the 32nd over. Ben McGowan was the only multiple wicket taker for SCIB with 2/13 (4).
Mt Lofty had the bye.
