The site at the old Victor Medical Centre, in Ocean Street, has been bustling with activity in recent weeks, but no official opening announcement has yet been made.
Independent MP for Mayo Rebekha Sharkie welcomed the clinic opening on Facebook yesterday, Thursday 18 December.
“This valuable facility is something I have strongly advocated for, as the south coast population continues to grow.
“The clinic is open on Ocean Street, Victor Harbor, offering an alternative to hospital for non-emergency issues. It’s open every day from 8am to 6pm and offers bulk billed services.
“This is great news for our South Coast community!”
The federal government announced in March that Victor Harbor would be among 50 towns nationally to host aMedicare Urgent Care Clinic that would open by mid-2026.
There were previously 16 Medicare Urgent Care Clinics in South Australia; the furthest south in Marion.
The clinics offer only bulk-billed consultations and operate on a walk-in basis.
They treat minor injuries and illnesses, such as cuts, sprains, minor burns and respiratory illnesses, to relieve pressure on hospital emergency departments.
