Teachers, other education workers and those in the transport industry will no longer need to be vaccinated against COVID-19 from midnight tonight.
However unvaccinated workers in the public school system will have to take a COVID test each day and wear a mask at all times. They will also be unable to work in special schools, or with vulnerable children.
Police Commissioner Grant Stevens announced the changes today at a press conference.
Meanwhile COVID-19 case numbers continue to rise across the state and on the Fleurieu.
South Australia today recorded 5496 new cases yesterday and 180 people are now in hospital across the state.
Eight are being treated in intensive care with one on a ventilator.
Two more people have died; a man in his 70s and a woman in her 80s.
Today’s number is the state’s second highest daily tally of new cases.
The highest number of daily cases (5679) occurred on 14 Jan.
Fleurieu cases have also continue to increase, affecting local schools, activities and sports.
