Just after 5pm on Saturday 14 November, police were called to Victor Harbor Road at Mount Compass following a head-on crash between a Toyota sedan and a Land Rover 4WD.

The Toyota driver, an 80-year-old man from Valley View, sadly died at the scene. The driver of the Land Rover, a 48-year-old woman from Kensington Park, and her child both sustained non-life threatening injuries and were taken to the Flinders Medical Centre for treatment.

Victor Harbor Road was closed for several hours between Sand Mine Road and Arthur Road while Major Crash Investigators examined the circumstances surrounding the crash.

The man’s death is the 78th life lost on SA roads this year compared with 96 at the same time last year.
