Victor Harbor’s Mainstreet makeover continues

The City of Victor Harbor is finalising the design of stage four of its Mainstreet Precinct upgrade through consultation with traders building owners.

Stage four covers the southern end of Ocean Street, including part of Albert Place.

A council statement says the project focuses on improved pedestrian usability; street greening through street trees and planting beds; and improving the overall quality of the streetscape.

“Revitalisation of Albert Place will bring a new type of public space to the Mainstreet Precinct.

“Features such as widening of footpaths, increasing alfresco dining opportunities, public seating and additional street trees will provide a more attractive and usable space.”

The result should reflect the Mainstreet Precinct’s importance to the community and its visitors.

Stages one and two of the multi million dollar upgrade have been completed, with construction of stage three due to start in May.

Council again engaged urban design and landscape architects Oxigen to develop design concepts for stage four.
