The City of Victor Harbor has announced its Citizen of the Year award winners to be honoured at its Australia Day celebrations on Wednesday 26 January.
The Citizen of the Year is Peter Lewis, who has been recognised for his lasting contributions to community groups, local fundraising, tourism promotion and community leadership.
Stephen Hedges receives the award for Active Citizenship for his ongoing commitment to environmental education and conservation.
The Young Citizen of the Year is Neriah Milis, who has been actively involved with local sporting clubs and community groups.
Live Arts at Newland takes out Community Event of the Year, recognising its contribution to community wellbeing and celebration of arts.
Mayor Dr Moira Jenkins says the 2022 Citizen of the Year award winners were selected from a pool of high calibre nominees.
“Our passionate community members and diverse community groups go above and beyond to make Victor Harbor even better, and we are so fortunate to have so many generous volunteers who share their time and knowledge as active citizens.”
“This year’s winners have all been influential in Victor Harbor in different ways, yet they all share a great amount of community spirit.”
The awards will be formally presented at Victor Harbor’s Australia Day Celebrations at the Horse Tram Barn on Railway Terrace from 9am.
