City of Victor Harbor has drafted an Environmental Management Plan to be implemented over the next five years.
It replaces the 2019 Environmental Management Plan and aims to guide the council’s efforts to protect and enhance the local environment until 2030.
The plan has been updated to align with the Community Plan 2030 and Urban Growth Management Strategy, and to reflect emerging challenges and opportunities in climate change, biodiversity, sustainability and community expectations.
Its goal include reducing the amount of waste going to landfill; increasing the local tree canopy; and improving water conservation.
The plan can be viewed on the City of Victor Harbor website and the council is asking for community input.
City of Victor Harbor will hold information sessions at the Civic Centre on Bay Road on Thursday 9 October from 10am to 12noon and on Wednesday 15 October from 4pm to 6pm.
The sessions will provide the opportunity to ask questions and give feedback, which can also be given via a survey on the council website or in person at the council offices.
Community consultation closes at 5pm on Friday 17 October.
