City of Victor Harbor staff marked the completion of the council’s Pump Track project on Friday 6 September with an official opening.

Also known as a junior scooter track, the Pump Track was funded by a $49,500 grant from the Office for Recreation, Sport and Racing.

It was constructed by Trailscapes in consultation with council staff and features an all-weather asphalt surface with berms, start mounding, roller bumps and turns, to create a dynamic surface for riding.

City of Victor Harbor Mayor Moira Jenkins officially opened the track and has praised council staff for their efforts.

“The Pump Track, centrally located and within the vicinity of other biking infrastructure and sporting grounds, is a valuable addition to the Victor Harbor community,” she says.

“The City of Victor Harbor values active wellbeing and I’m pleased to see another outstanding outdoor location promote healthy living for our community.

“I congratulate staff on bringing this project to life and may it provide much joy and fun for the young people of our coastal city for years to come.”

The council consulted students from Victor Harbor Primary School in 2021 on what additions they would like to see included in a pump track.

It says this valuable feedback shaped the design of the track to ensure it is fun, exciting and accessible to a wide range of users.
