Victor Harbor are through to the Great Southern Football League (GSFL) Grand Final after defeating Willunga by 45 points in the second semi-final at Mt Compass on Saturday. Willunga led by seven points at quarter time, before Victor Harbor kicked four goals to one in the second term to hold a 10-point lead at halftime. ‘Victor’ extended their lead in the third quarter to take a handy 16-point buffer into the last quarter. The ‘Roos finished strongly, kicking six goals to one, to win 17.8 (110) to 10.5 (65). Bryce Gibbs kicked three goals in a best-on-ground display, while Sam Overall also slotted three majors. Joining Gibbs in the best players for ‘Victor’ included Dylan Kleinig, Heath Treloar, Mitchell Brook, Benjamin Heaslip and Overall. Best players for the Demons were Liam Nye, Sean Beath, Harry Saunders, Jaxon Hams, Nick Scanlan and Cameron McDonald.
McLaren Districts will face Willunga in Saturday’s Preliminary Final after defeating reigning premier Myponga-Sellicks by 31 points in the first semi-final at Willunga yesterday. Myponga-Sellicks started well to lead by 18 points at quarter time, before McLaren Districts kicked 15 goals to six in the last three quarters to win 18.8 (116) to 12.13 (85). Josh Vandermeer (4), Codey Ellison (3) and Daniel Marr (3) were the leading goalkickers for the Eagles, while Jake Spinks kicked four goals for the Mudlarks. Best players for McLaren Districts included Matthew Raitt, Stuart Green, Ellison, Brett Ellis, Brodie Long and Marr. Meanwhile, best for Myponga-Sellicks were Jaxon Sampson, Anthony Kempster, Jake Spinks, Jayden Scott, Hayden Sampson and Mitchell Wilkins.
