Victor top tourism town again

Victor Harbor has been named the state’s top tourism town for the second year running at the 2024 Hello SA Top Tourism Town Awards.

The awards announcement was made at the SA Tourism Conference, held in Adelaide last night - Tuesday 4 June.

Coober Pedy took out the award for Small Tourism Town, while Burra won both Tiny Tourism Town and the People's Choice award.

Langhorne Creek and Willunga were also nominated for the 2024 awards.

Victor Harbor took out the People's Choice Award and Top Tourism Town in 2023.

The town will celebrate its win over the coming long weekend at the official opening of its annual Winter Whale Festival.

This will take place on Sunday 9 June, with a Welcoming of the Whales and Smoking Ceremony.

The festival is a month-long celebration of the Southern Right Whales' arrival on the Fleurieu Peninsula, showcasing the local community's passion for coastal landscape preservation and marine environment protection.

City of Victor Harbor Mayor Dr Moira Jenkins is enthusiastic about the festival's diverse program.

“I love the Fleurieu Peninsula at this time of year. There’s something so magical about the Southern Right Whales coming to visit our coastline, and the Winter Whale Fest is the perfect way to celebrate the wonder of the marine world.

“I’m personally looking forward to the Winter Whale Fest Expo at the beginning of the June long weekend, where attendees can experience free talks, workshops, music, local artists, and kids’ activities.”
