Happy Valley moved another step closer to securing their spot in the finals after defeating Port Noarlunga by six points during round 12 action in the Southern Football League (SFL) yesterday. Port Noarlunga opened up a handy 20-point lead at halftime and still led by 18 points at the last change. The Vikings didn’t lie down, kicking five goals to one in the final term, to record a great comeback win 10.14 (74) to 10.8 (68). Corey Grocock and Nathan May kicked two goals each for Happy Valley, while Oliver Petrohilos slotted five majors for Port Noarlunga. Best players for the Vikings included Harry Vick, May, Hayden Kari, Tain Smelt and Jack Flett. Best for ‘Porties’ were Phil Brown, Anthony Dempsey, Billy Cook, Chris Black and Tom Redden.
Flagstaff Hill remain undefeated after a comprehensive 104-point win against Christies Beach. The Falcons led at every change before running out winners 18.24 (132) to 4.4 (28). ‘Flaggies’ had 10 different goalkickers with Sam Jacobs kicking five majors (36 for the season). Best players for the Falcons included Josh Rosman, Jacobs, Ben Burbridge, Nick Bailey and Cameron Blake. Josh de Roode, Matt Hodge, Shaun King, Nathan Sable and James Conlon were named best for ‘Christies’.
Noarlunga consolidated their spot in the top-three following a comfortable 49-point win at Cove yesterday. The Shoes won every quarter on their way to a 18.12 (120) to 11.5 (71) triumph. Noarlunga had nine different goalkickers with Vic Robertson leading the way with five majors. Lincoln Holder kicked four goals for the Cobras. Best players for Noarlunga included Nathan Schulz, Jaidan Kappler, Jake Anderson, Sam Beard, Vic Robertson and Nick Robertson. Cove was best served by Michael Galley, Kyle Stoldt, Holder, Jackson Riddle and Lucas Hill.
After two losses in a row, reigning premier Reynella got back in the winners circle with a comfortable 43-point victory over Aldinga. The Wine Flies were relatively untroubled as they won 12.14 (86) to 7.1 (43). Callan Semple was the leading goalkicker on the ground with four goals for Reynella, while Tom Pilmore and Ishmael Palmer kicked two goals each for the Sharks. Best players for Reynella included Dylan Roser, Sam Whitbread, Liam Reid, Mitch Scotland and Nick McLean. Angus Stangewitz, Isaac Churchill, Bailey Pilmore, Brayden Hooper and Luke Watson were named best for Aldinga.
