Vikings conquer Emus in the Southern Football League

Happy Valley consolidated their spot in the top-five of the Southern Football League (SFL) after defeating Morphett Vale by 55 points this afternoon. After a tight first half saw Happy Valley lead by eight points, the Vikings completely took over in the second half, kicking nine goals to one, to win 17.11 (113) to 8.10 (58). Happy Valley had 10 different goalkickers with Ben Geythenbeek (5) and Jack Flett (4) leading the way. Best players for the Vikings were Kieren Bartlett, Jaxon McGregor-Dey, Lachlan Hamilton, Tate Coleman and Matthew Lillis. For Morphett Vale, Liam Corrie, Anthony Biemans and Bodie Sowter were among their best.


Reigning premier Flagstaff Hill won their fifth game of the season with a comprehensive 128-point win against Port Noarlunga at ‘Porties’. The Falcons led by 35 points at quarter time, 49 points at halftime and 74 points at the last change before winning 22.15 (147) to 2.7 (19). ‘Flaggies’ had plenty of avenues to goal with Luke Beenham and Nathan Beenham kicking five goals each. They were ably supported by Ryan Mountford (4) and Daniel Butcher (3). Ashley Baxter and Aaron Peterson kicked Port Noarlunga’s two goals. David Kearsley, Sam Tharaldsen, Blake Aldridge, Nathan Beenham and Mountford were best for Flagstaff Hill. Liam O’Connor-Dawkins, Jordan Zeitz and Jayden Close battled hard for Port Noarlunga.


Reynella continued their dominant start to 2022 with a comfortable 125-point win at home against Aldinga. The Wine Flies led by 63 points at halftime, before kicking a further 11 goals to two in the second half to win 22.14 (146) to 3.3 (21). Marc Borholm kicked six goals for Reynella to give him 40 for the season so far. Callan Semple (4), Cam McGree (3) and Bradley Potter (3) also hit the scoreboard for the Wine Flies. Cameron Jarrett kicked two goals for Aldinga. Best players for a rampant Reynella outfit were McGree, Sam Whitbread, Robert Irra, Semple and Brad Potter. Luke Watson, Matthew Beinke, Levi Stewart-England, Zhaidyn Hamdorf and Kane Catford were best for the Sharks. 


Noarlunga won their fifth game of the season with a comfortable 34-point win against the Cove Cobras at Hallett Cove. The Shoes got off to a fast start with five goals to two in the first quarter to lead by 21 points at the first change. The Cobras were still in the game at the last change with the margin at 23 points, but a five goal to three final term saw the Shoes win 15.9 (99) to 9.11 (65). Vic Robertson led the way up forward for Noarlunga with four goals, while Scott Grieve and Jake McCreery kicked two goals each for Cove. Nick Mott, in just his second game for the season, was best on ground for the Shoes and he was well supported by Vic Robertson, Tom Mott, Jaidan Kappler and Nathan Schulz. Best for the Cobras included Bailey Nicholas, Michael Galley and Corey Jackson.
